Ephesians 1:1-2
Mar 16, 2008 am - Today, with God's blessing, we'll start up a new series of sermons, this one through Ephesians. I chose this book, in part, because it is my favorite Epistle of Paul, but mostly because of what it's about. What is it about? It's about the unity of God's People, which is God's gift to give and our responsibility to maintain and improve. What does Ephesians want us to do? Two things: It wants us to want and admire God's unity in the church and home. We've misread the book if, reading it doesn't make us exclaim with Psalm 133- Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It wants us to do something about it. Some of us are better hearers of the Word than doers of the Word. We're disciples of the head and of the heart.but not of the hands. We agree that believers ought to live together in peace and love, patience, humility and good humor, but we're not willing to admit our own faults or to laugh at our silly ways or to overlook transgressions or to accept people the way they are-and to love them anyway.
